Understanding the movements of the car industry can be a challenge. To try and keep up with every new model to come to Australia is no easy feat, so the Chasing Cars team has taken on the task to bring you the most up to date vehicle launch document available. 

The list is arranged by manufacturer and in alphabetical order. 

Q stands for quarter (three month period) 

H1 or H2 – first or second half of the year

Alfa Romeo 

  • Tonale – Alfa’s small SUV offering to be released locally from March 2023

Alpina 

  • B3 update – niche version of BMW’s 3 Series has true purist appeal – from Q1 2023 

Aston Martin 

  • DBX707 – hotter version of Aston’s sporty SUV on sale now 
  • V12 Vantage roadster – 12-cylinder power lives on from Q1 2023

Audi

  • E-Tron GT – Taycan adaptation brings RS performance to electrification in January 2023 
  • A4 B9 – next-gen A4 likely to be revealed from Q2 2023 
  • A6 E-tron – Audi will expand electric lineup to sedans and, later, wagons, from Q2 2023 
  • Q8 E-tron – facelift of the simply-named E-tron lands Q3 2023
  • Q4 E-Tron – Audi Australia making progress on electric midsize SUV, likely to land locally late 2023 or early 2024 

BMW

  • iX1 – first electric X1 SUV rolls out from February 2023 
  • M3 Touring – highly-anticipated M3 wagon lands March 2023 
  • Z4 – update for the sporty convertible in March 2023 
  • X5 facelift – popular luxury SUV to be refreshed visually in February 2023

BYD

  • Atto 2 (Dolphin) – small electric hatchback to shake up Yaris class from Q2 2023 
  • Atto 4 (Seal) – electric sedan will target Model 3 from Q4 2023 

Chevrolet (sold in Australia under GMSV brand)

  • Silverado facelift – large ute’s visual refresh likely to land in Australia in 2023 Q2 2023 
  • Corvette E-Ray hybrid – first hybrid Corvette ever – Q2 2023
  • Corvette Z06 – Corvette gains even more performance – sometime in 2023

Citroen 

  • C5 Aircross facelift – French SUV set for nip-tuck in Q1 2023 

Cupra 

  • Leon V – base-model Leon still gets 140kW of power from February 2023 
  • Born – first all electric vehicle for the brand lands in Australia in April 2023 
  • Terramar – Cupra’s last combustion model will be revealed in Q2 2023 
  • Tavascan – fully-electric midsize SUV with coupe roofline set for reveal sometime in 2023

Ferrari

  • Pursosangue – V12-powered crossover a first from the prancing horse – Q4 2023

Fiat 

  • 500e – cute Italian city car goes fully electric from Q2 2023 with a higher new price tag

Ford

  • Mustang – incremental changes and new styling, V8 retained but no hybrid yet for pony car – Q4 2023 
  • Escape facelift – tougher front-end styling could land sometime later in 2023 
  • Mustang Mach-E – expect Australian specs to be locked in late in 2023 
  • Ranger PHEV – turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid Ranger likely to be revealed late 2023 or 2024

GWM/ Haval 

  • Tank 300 – fun styling and rugged frame chassis plus hybrid engine from Q1 2023 
  • Shanhai ute – luxurious large ute with twin-turbo petrol V6 power – Q4 2023 
  • Ora – one of Australia’s most affordable EVs is landing in the middle of 2023
  • Ora Sport – large electric hatchback under consideration for Aussie release later in 2023

Honda

  • Civic Type R – most powerful Type R to date with 235kW of power and focus on chassis polish, from February 2023 
  • CR-V – new-gen CR-V already revealed in the US, should come here late 2023 
  • ZR-V – it looks like Australia will take the US-market HR-V and put a Z badge on it late in 2023

Hyundai 

  • Kona – reveal of the second-gen small SUV with petrol, hybrid and EV power to occur in February 2023 
  • Venue update – spec bump and Bluelink connectivity for the small SUV, from Q1 2023 
  • Ioniq 6 – first EV sedan by the brand set to launch in February 2023
  • Ioniq 5 N – high performance EV with similar motors to EV6 GT but stronger track focus – from August 2023 
  • i30 sedan facelift – expect a significant visual shake-up sometime in 2023 

Ineos 

  • Grenadier – first vehicle from the British brand is a bespoke 4WD built in Europe – Q2 2023

Jeep

Kia

  • Sportage hybrid – finally confirmed for Australia with landing date around Q4 2023
  • Carnival facelift – set for reveal in 2023
  • EV9 – brand-new, three-row all-electric SUV set to shock with avantgarde aesthetic when revealed in 2023, arriving in Australia before end of the year

Lamborghini

  • Urus S – more potent version of hot SUV, due in Q3 2023 

Land Rover

  • Range Rover Sport SVR – bonkers V8 tune set for return sometime in 2023 
  • Range Rover Sport EV – more athletic RR model will spawn a fully-electric variant in 2024
  • Range Rover EV – full-fat Rangey set to get huge battery and long range in EV form from 2024 

LDV

  • G90 – hard-working van set for replacement sometime in 2023 
More Range Rover variants are set to launch during 2023

Lexus

  • RX – fifth-gen luxury SUV now focussed around hybrid engines, from February 2023 
  • RZ450e – brand’s midsize electric SUV set for Australian release in May 2023

Lotus 

  • Emira V6 – Toyota sourced 3.5-litre supercharged V6 still allows choice of manual gearbox – from mid 2023 
  • Emira four-cylinder – shares its 2.0-litre engine with Mercedes-AMG A45, landing Q2 2023
  • Eletre EV – will be world’s fastest electric SUV with 675kW of power – 2024

Maserati 

  • Grecale – first small SUV for the brand will spawn Folgore EV model from Q1 2023
  • Granturismo Folgore EV – luscious Maserati lines adorn this electric supercar due late 2023 

Mazda 

  • CX-90 – landing Q3 2023, the CX-9’s replacement chases after the Volvo XC90
  • CX-60 – new luxury SUV focussed on new six-cylinder engine released in Australia in June 2023 
  • CX-70 – widebody adaptation of CX-60 still on the table for Australia with a reveal later in 2023
  • CX-80 – narrower version of CX-90 large SUV set to be revealed late in 2023 with focus on Europe

Mercedes-AMG

  • GT 63 S E Performance – hyper-performance sedan from AMG lands from Q1 2023 
  • C43 – V6 swapped out for a version of the A45’s turbo four from February 2023
  • C63  – huge change as V8 ditched for plug-in hybrid four-cylinder from July 2023
  • SL – AMG developed the new SL convertible on its own, arriving here from Q3 2023 

Mercedes-Benz

  • EQE – midsize E-Class sibling goes fully electric from February 2023 
  • EQS (non-AMG models) – EQS53 finally joined by softer siblings from Q1 2023 
  • GLC Coupe – we’ll see the coupe version of the second-gen GLC soon, from Q2 2023 
  • A-Class facelift – subtle aesthetic changes and powertrain tweaks from Q2 2023

  • MG4 – well-received Chinese electric hatch set for Aussie release from Q2 2023

Mitsubishi

  • Pajero Sport update – mild facelift and spec bump likely for the 4WD from April 2023
  • Triton – all-new generation of the value-focussed ute likely to be seen late in 2023  

Nissan

  • Qashqai E-power hybrid – hybrid small SUV set to take on Corolla Cross from later in 2023
  • X-Trail E-power hybrid – unique hybrid powertrain reduces X-Trail’s thirst from Q1 2023 
  • Patrol Warrior – latest iteration of Nissan’s successful local Warrior sub-brand drops with V8 power in September 2023

Peugeot 

  • 308 GT Sport PHEV – more power and urban EV range for beefy 308 spec from 2023 
  • 408 – unique layout for sedan-cross-SUV, will land in Australia later in 2023 

Polestar

  • 2 rear-wheel drive – purists thrills come to sedan with switch to RWD layout from Q4 2023
  • 3 – large SUV goes after BMW iX from early in 2024, though Euro deliveries start this year
  • 5 – Polestar’s sedan on bespoke aluminium platform scores global reveal late in 2023

Porsche 

  • 911 Dakar – 911 goes off-road in style, landing in very limited numbers in Australia from Q3 2023
  • Macan EV – critical first Porsche electric SUV set to be revealed in 2023, will continue alongside the existing petrol model

Renault

  • Kangoo E-tech – renewed electric van sports better efficiency from January 2023 
  • Megane E-tech – small electric SUV has received high praise in Europe and will come to Australia from Q2 2023

Rolls-Royce

  • Spectre EV – natural fit as Rolls-Royce goes fully-electric, firstly in coupe form, sometime later in 2023

Skoda

  • Enyaq – practical Skoda EV is a midsize SUV set to land in Australia in Q4 2023

Subaru

  • Crosstrek – re-engineered and upgraded new-gen XV replacement set for release in Q1 2023 
  • Outback Turbo (XT) – bigger engine with much more power from February 2023 
  • Solterra – first all-electric Subaru in partnership with Toyota lands in Q3 2023 

Suzuki

  • Vitara hybrid – electric system from Toyota could be coming for Suzuki’s small SUV – 2023 
  • Jimny five-door – all the goodness of the current Jimny but with space for more – 2024

  • Model S update – Tesla’s flagship sedan returns to Australian shores from Q3 2023 
  • Model 3 update – small facelift and bigger tech upgrade under the skin from around Q3 2023 
  • Model X update – large SUV set to finally return to Australia, including with Plaid powertrain option, from Q3 2023

Toyota

  • GR Corolla – hyper-hatch Golf R rival is inbound in February 2023 
  • Kluger turbo – V6 dropped and will be replaced by a 2.4T engine in Q1 2023 
  • Hilux GR Sport – more power, tougher looks and better off-road capability from Q3 2023

Volkswagen

  • Amarok – fresh generation ute with multiple powertrains including a turbo petrol lands in April 2023 
  • Touareg R – first PHEV Volkswagen dropped from UK lineup but still on its way to Australia from Q2 2023 
  • ID7 – VW will diversity electric portfolio with a large sedan first seen in Q2 2023, Australia not yet confirmed
