Lexus LM 2024: ultra-luxurious people mover priced up to $220,888 in Australia

The new Lexus LM people mover will be the most expensive people mover on the Australian new car market by some margin

Lexus Australia has confirmed pricing for its new-generation LM luxury people mover, which will start from $160,888 before on-road costs.

Pricing is even steeper, though, for the flagship 500h AWD Ultra Luxury which will cost a staggering $220,888, or roughly the same amount as two brand-new Audi RS3s.

Lexus has priced the LM from $160,888 before on-road costs

This makes the new LM people mover the most expensive of its kind in Australia, with the next most expensive luxury van being the fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 priced from $157,450 before on-road costs.

Lexus Australia says that the LM will arrive in Australia in December 2023.

The model will compete against other luxury people movers such as the LDV Mifa 9, Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Volkswagen Multivan

What powers the new LM in Australia?

There are a couple of options for powertrain in the Lexus LM, starting with a 2.5-litre hybrid petrol powertrain that produces outputs of 184kW/270Nm

Two hybrid drivetrains will be offered

The four-seat 500h will be powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine that produces “more than 200kW”.

However, overseas reports indicate that the total combined power output is likely to be 260kW for this high-spec variant.

How luxurious is the new LM people mover?

Lexus has gone all out with the LM, especially in four-seat 500h Ultra Luxury guise, with its VIP throne captain’s chairs and a “world first” 48-inch widescreen paired with a 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. A mini-fridge is also standard for the flagship.

Four- and six-seater options are available
A 48-inch TV in the back the van should be enough for most

Noteably, it’s not the first time Lexus has offered a four-seat variant, with the LX four-wheel-drive wagon also sold with this option.

The lower tier but still luxurious 350h Sports Luxury features two reclining business-class style seats, with a third row behind, with the people mover able to carry seven occupants total. Either 17-inch or 19-inch wheels can be optioned on to the van.

More information about local specification is likely to be announced closer to the model’s on-sale date.
